DonateThank you for giving to the ministry of the Lutheran Church in the Gulf Coast!
How do I give?
To donate to Gustav/Ike Recovery, send your check to
The Texas-Louisiana Gulf Coast Synod
Mark your check "Gustav/Ike"
How are my gifts being used?
1. Pastors/Rostered Leaders (salaries and homes) When congregations are hit by hurricanes and flooding, they often cannot
pay their pastor. Power is out. Banks are closed.
Computers are down. Checkbooks are lost.
2. Congregational Ministry (facility,
family and community) Congregations have a hard time reaching out to their community when their roof is damaged and the rain is coming in. Congregation members have a hard time serving their neighborhoods if their own families are struggling. Your family is your first ministry. So, once pastors and rostered leaders are cared for our next priority is to support congregations that have been hit, and their members, so that they can reach out to their community. Funds are used to help congregations with deductibles, which are 2% of the insured value of the facility, and along the coast can be as much as 5%. Gifts are used for pastors' discretionary funds so they can help members of congregation and community who are in desperate situations. Funds are used to provide resources to help congregations serve the needs of a disaster-affected area, material and spiritual. Funds are used to send pastors into disaster areas where the local pastor needs help. Funds are used to provide staff to manage the influx of calls, in-kind donations and volunteers that compassionately arrive from around the country.
