Looking for a part-time (20 hours a week) Bookkeeper/Accounting
Clerk with the following qualifications:

3-5 years
experience
·
Knowledgeable in
AR/AP
·
Highly organized
and attention to detail
·
Prior experience
as full charge bookkeeper
·
Good written and
oral communication skills
·
Knowledge of
Windows based PC Operating System
·
Proficient in
Microsoft Word & Excel
·
Ability to work
in a multi-task environment
Duties are:
·
Maintain a
complete and systematic set of records of all financial transactions
of the Synod
·
Record detail of
Synod financial transactions in appropriate journals and ledgers
·
Summarize and
balance entries recorded in individual journals and ledgers and
transfer date to general ledgers
·
Prepare monthly
statements of income, expense, cash balances and fund balances
·
Maintain detail
transaction register of all restricted and dedicated funds
·
Prepare for and
coordinate the annual audit of the financial accounts and records of
the synod
·
Maintain regular
communication with the Synod Treasurer
·
Other duties as
assigned by the Bishop of the synod and/or the Administrative
Assistant to the Bishop of the Synod

We are looking for part-time (20 hours a week) volunteer
receptionists for our office. The persons we need have to be
friendly, patient and interested in learning new things! Computer
skills are valuable but not required. These persons will be needed
from Tuesday to Thursday from 10 am to 3pm (time negotiable), lunch
will be reimbursed.

Description:
The ELCA Youth Gathering and the TX-LA Gulf Coast Synod are working
together to provide meaningful service projects for 36,000 people in
the greater New Orleans area July,
2009. The person who
fills this position will work closely with local congregations, long
term disaster recovery organizations, local government,
entertainment industry, agencies, organizations and institutions.
This work includes cultivating and maintaining relationships
with partners in New Orleans and beyond to
develop a system of serving in a way that honors the local community
and the participants of the ELCA Youth Gathering.
Responsibilities also include securing and managing the
resources necessary for carrying out these projects with volunteer
teams in partnership with the ServantLife Team, one of 14 planning
teams of the ELCA Youth Gathering.
The scale of the youth gathering requires a
capacity to work with flexibility and good humor under pressure.
This work includes weekend and evening meetings and full
participation in New Orleans between the
dates of July
16-26, 2009.

Summer 2008
Spirit of Joy! Lutheran Church
is seeking a
summer intern
to work closely with the
Pastor and the Youth and Family Team to plan, implement, and oversee
Junior and Senior
High ministry activities in an affluent, suburban community.
The successful candidate will be a High School graduate with past
leadership and Christian education experience, youth ministry
involvement, and community service.
Youth ministry students or those discerning a call into Youth
Ministry are encouraged to
apply.
The
goal of the internship
is to develop skills in the intern and support Junior and Senior
High students in their faith journey. This is an outstanding
opportunity to serve and gain
valuable experience in Youth Ministry.
Specific Responsibilities include:
�
Assist with design, planning, and implementation of Youth Ministry
activities/goals
�
Regular contact with the students through ministry events
�
Attend the Senior High summer trip and/or confirmation camp
�
Lead youth summer Sunday School
�
Implement the Senior High program by planning and leading bimonthly
events
including the Bible Studies
�
Promote student leadership and encourage service opportunities when
possible.
�
Coordinate youth volunteers at Day Camp (July 14 thru 18) and VBS
(August 4 thru 7)
�
Communication with parents and members of SOJ! about the summer
program.
�
Work closely with the Youth and Family (Lay Ministry) Team
Time Commitment:
Estimated average is 30 hours per week from June 1 through
August 17
Compensation:
Salary is $3600 for the entire summer. Housing will be provided if
the
intern is not a local resident.
