Transition Year Conversation - January 2007 ...

Worship

The primary question we have been focusing upon in our Year of Transition Conversations is What is God calling this synod to be engaged in missionally in the next six years?

The “context” for the conversation in January 2007 focuses our attention on a core element in our life together as Christians in communities (congregational settings):  WORSHIP!

The question to have conversation about is:  What are we discerning God’s call to us to be about in the coming six years related to our Worship Life together?

As in the past several months, you are invited and encouraged to take 15-20 minutes of your council agenda time and simply talk to each other about this topic and theme.  You are asked to also share this question (and the enclosed sheet with resource information) with other groups in your congregation so they can also participate in this synod-wide conversation.

Please note:  The topics in the coming months for this year long conversation include; Role of the Synod; Role of the Bishop; Money and The Great Commission.  This will lead us up to the Synod Assembly and the election of a new bishop.  The question we’ll be posing in the spring of the year relates to what kind of gifts the next bishop should have in order to address the mission of our synod as we’ve discerned it in these conversations together.

The Bible has many references on worship.

Read the following scripture passages to ground your conversations with each other:

Deuteronomy 6:1-9

Psalms 95, 100

1 Corinthians 11:23-26
