2021 Synod Assembly Offering

Campus ministry plays a critical role in the work we do together as the Gulf Coast Synod. Campus ministry encourages young adults in their faith journeys and prepares them for a life of service and leadership. Our campus pastors speak of providing crisis counseling and pastoral care, cultivating safe spaces to ask deep spiritual questions, and being catalysts for activities of advocacy, education, and justice. Campus ministry also provides care and support for faculty and staff and the entire academic community.

Our goal is to raise $10,000 through the Synod Assembly Offering that will:

  • Strengthen Houston Area Campus Ministry (HACM) serving Texas Southern University and the University of Houston, and Houston Community College-Central Campus. This campus ministry restarted in 2020 during the pandemic. In conjunction with Houston Canterbury (the Episcopal campus ministry), HACM has distributed over 3,000 care packages to students during this academic year.
  • Provide vital resources as the synod prepares to launch a new campus ministry strategy this fall in New Orleans.
  • Support campus ministry at Texas A&M and Blinn College through Treehouse Ministry, where during the pandemic online community was cultivated through weekly worship, dinner together by Zoom, game nights, and learning. Treehouse will be coming back to in-person community this fall.
