In 2022, the Gulf Coast Synod Assembly voted to enter into a one-year process of discerning whether the Gulf Coast Synod should become a Reconciling in Christ (RIC) synod. This designation means the Gulf Coast Synod would intentionally commit to the full welcome and inclusion of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer (LGBTQ) community, as well as invest in the work of anti-racism.

As part of this discernment, three regional forums will be held over the next several months- one in New Orleans, one in La Grange, and one in Houston. Every congregation is asked to register their called ministers and at least two lay leaders for one of the three regional forums. Each will take place on a Saturday from 10am to 2pm, and will include lunch. The congregation registration fee is $20. This is an important period of discernment and deliberation, and it is your decision as a synod, so please be sure to register and participate.
