Statement regarding the George Floyd Verdict Download Statement – April 20, 2021

Mission Statement
The Anti-Racism (ART) team of the Gulf Coast Synod will assist congregations and the synod expression to initiate and sustain anti-racist behaviors and practices that inclusively and expansively embrace all of God’s people. It is our call to be leaders in the fight to dismantle racism and white supremacy in our church and in our society.

Vision Statement
The Gulf Coast Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America will maintain consistent and open dialogue with its membership and community constituents about the debilitating effects of implicit, systemic racism and the impact of such oppressive practices on every community.  The Anti-Racism Team will be an ongoing spark for transforming every congregation within the Texas-Louisiana Gulf Coast Synod into inclusive environments rooted in equity for all of God’s people regardless of race.
