CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS AT KINSMEN LUTHERAN CHURCH
12100 Champion Forest Drive
Houston, TX 77066
From a Fair Trade Marketplace to Candlelight Christmas Eve Services,
December is filled with opportunities for the community to celebrate together
Kinsmen Lutheran Church will host events throughout the month of December designed to prepare your heart for Christmas. All events are free and the community is warmly invited to attend.
The month begins with the 5th Annual Advent Fair Trade Marketplace, held Friday, November 30 through Sunday, December 2. In partnership with Hands of Faith, a ministry of Lord of Life Lutheran Church in The Woodlands, the event will offer an array of coffee, chocolate, jewelry, home décor, greeting cards, accessories and more. Every item purchased will support farmers, craftsmen and artisans living in countries such as Rwanda, Vietnam, India and Haiti.
The Fair Trade Marketplace will be open from 3:30 to 7 p.m. on November 30; 5 to 7 p.m. on December 1; and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. December 2, at Kinsmen Lutheran Church, 12100 Champion Forest Drive in Houston. Admission is free.
Then at 6 p.m. Sunday, December 2, enjoy a free holiday concert. “Go Tell It” will feature all of Kinsmen’s musicians—big and small, singing, ringing and more—for a celebration the whole family will enjoy.
Worship services during this month will focus on the theme of Longing—Longing for Hope, Peace, Joy and Love. Midweek
worship services will be held during Advent on Wednesdays, December 5, 12 and 19, at 7 p.m. The December 5 and 12 services will be meditative and reflective worship to prepare your heart to celebrate the birth of Christ.
The final Wednesday Advent service on December 19 will be a special “Longest Night” worship service. This is a service for those who are grieving or do not feel joy this season. The service begins at 7 p.m. and includes Holy Communion.
“This time of year can be filled with many special activities, but the real reason we celebrate goes far beyond presents and decorations,” said the Rev. Dr. Beth Warpmaeker, senior pastor of Kinsmen. “In Jesus, God gave us the greatest gift of all time—Up close and personal Love—unconditional love. So join us as we celebrate the depths of God’s love for you, for me, and for the whole world.”
As the big day arrives, celebrate Christmas at Kinsmen! Christmas Eve candlelight services will take place on Monday, December 24 and include a family service at 4 p.m., contemporary worship at 6 p.m., and traditional worship with choir and brass at 8 and 10 p.m. Holy Communion will be offered at each service.
