Creating Safe Spaces Workshop

As church leaders, we want our ministries to be safe, healthy and caring environments for children and youth. Whether it is in Sunday School, at Confirmation or at a lock-in, we want everyone to be safe. In a world with so much hurt, churches can be vulnerable to abuse when we haven’t carefully thought through how adults are screened and trained to work in environments with children/youth.

You are invited to bring a team from your church to LEAD’s Creating Safe Spaces Workshop with Jessica Noonan, LEAD Consultant and Director of Operations. At this event, your team will work on developing draft Safe Haven Guidelines – framework for healthy boundaries for adults working with children/youth in different ministry situations. These guidelines also determine how your church will screen and train adult leaders. You will also leave with simple steps your church can take to create safe spaces for children/youth and the adults who work with them. Build your team and get signed up by October 22nd!

  • Who should come? We encourage you to bring a team of 3-5 adults (pastor and/or youth/family staff, council rep, key adult leaders from congregations
  • What is the cost? $150 per congregation
  • How do I register our team? Go to https://waytolead.org/creating-safe-spaces-registration/
