The Lutheran Suicide Prevention Ministry is based on the ELCA “Message on Suicide Prevention.” It urges the church to prevent suicide and calls upon the church’s educational advocacy programs to make suicide prevention an important concern in their ministries.

The mission of the Suicide Prevention Ministry is to reduce the number of people who die by suicide through awareness, education, and advocacy actions that reduce the stigma of suicide.

“We who lean on God’s love to live are called to bear one another’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2)
