Synod Assembly – 2015
April 16-18, 2015
Hilton Houston North in Houston
The assembly is an opportunity for education and fellowship. Centered around the theme of “evangelism”, together we rethought our concept of evangelism, reimagining something that takes on many forms including social justice, radical hospitality, and community involvement.
This year’s assembly included Pastor Rudy Rasmus as our keynote speaker, sharing on his experiences at St. John’s UMC in Houston. Spotlight ministries were displayed, highlighting unique evangelism programs throughout our synod.
In addition, we participated in a panel discussion with young adults, hearing responses to questions about how the church can be better at reaching the 18-35 demographic.
Offering
An offering total of $2,938 was collected at assembly, which is split evenly between our companion synods in the Central African Republic and Peru.
The cell phone fee collected $152.07, which supports Lutherhill’s Zion Retreat Center.

As it is, there are many parts, but only one body. The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you.”
