Churchwide Assembly Voting Member Candidate

Skills, Abilities, and Gifts

The following skills, abilities, and/or gifts are required for a person to effectively serve as a delegate to the Churchwide Assembly:

  • Gifts of discernment, patience, and listening
  • Gift to be open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit
  • Ability and willingness to pray regularly for the ministry and congregations of the synod
  • Prior active service in your congregation and at the synod level
  • Familiarity with the challenges facing the larger church
  • Ability and willingness to attend and participate in the Assembly (2022 in Columbus, OH)
  • Voting member of a congregation of the synod
  • Gift of working with the other council members to be a group that envisions and assesses the ministry of the synod
  • Ability to use critical evaluation skills to evaluate the outcomes of our synod

Please Note: The Nominating Committee will nominate at least one qualified candidate for each position available. Qualifications will be based on a comparison of stated required or preferred skills, abilities, gifts, and experience with those of the ideal candidate. Qualifications for each position are listed on the candidate form for each position. It is the responsibility of the Nominating Committee to select and nominate the candidate or candidates who are best qualified for each elected position. Additional nominations may be made from the floor of the Synod Assembly.
