Disaster Grant

This application is for a request for a disaster grant from the Gulf Coast Synod Disaster Team.
Prior to applying, you should already have spoken with the synod staff relator for disaster response or the chair of the Disaster Team. This application is not necessary for immediate disaster relief grants following a disaster.
 
Please fill out as much information as possible. You do not request an amount. Rather, the Disaster Team considers the following criteria when making grant allocations:
  • The total cost of damage repair
  • The unmet financial need of the congregation. Unmet need is what is the financial need that still exists after insurance payment, congregational resources, FEMA assistance, application and approval for an SBA loan, and application and approval for a loan through the ELCA MIF or ELCA Credit Union
  • The total number of congregations and rostered ministers with damage and unmet need
  • The total amount available in the Disaster Fund for distribution for a particular disaster
