#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving. Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.

This year, we are asking our churches, members, and partners to give to LIRS.

Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS) was founded in 1939 by Lutheran churches in the United States to serve uprooted people during World War II. LIRS has since grown into an internationally recognized leader known for innovative services for refugees, asylum-seekers, unaccompanied migrant children and families, migrants in detention, and other vulnerable populations.

The vision of LIRS is that all migrants and refugees are protected, embraced and empowered in a world of just and welcoming communities.

As a witness to God’s love for all people, LIRS stands with and advocates for migrants and refugees, transforming communities through ministries of service and justice.

This video produced by LIRS invites you to walk alongside migrants and refugees on a courageous journey to rebuild their lives in this land of freedom. By giving to LIRS, you can help a refugee father find a job and learn English, or provide a mother and child seeking asylum with a clean, safe place to sleep. Challenge your congregation to make a commitment to refugee ministry by taking an offering or making a prayerful gift to LIRS for #GivingTuesday.
